We were present at EXPO SNI Industria 2026! ⚙️

Last week, Giovanna Vila attended this important industry gathering on behalf of our firm.

This event, organized by the National Society of Industries (SNI Peru), brought together key players as part of its evolution toward the Pacific Industrial Platform, also coinciding with the institution's 130th anniversary.

In celebration of World Anti-Counterfeiting Day, we participated in a seminar and product identification fair held on June 11 in Lima.

This initiative, organized alongside Ministry of Production of Peru and the Commission for the Fight against Customs Crimes and Piracy, with the support of the IACC, was aimed at municipal authorities and the Intellectual Property Police of Lima and Callao.

The event included specialized presentations and a fair focused on identifying counterfeit versus genuine products, promoting practical tools to strengthen the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights.

We share an article on non-use cancellation and its application to well-known trademarks, based on the analysis of the well-known trademark “EL REY” case in Peru.

In particular, the article addresses the criterion adopted by the Specialized Intellectual Property Chamber, according to which the notoriety of a trademark constitutes an impediment to its cancellation for non-use, extending its protection even to products for which no effective use or specific notoriety was proven.

El artículo analiza el criterio adoptado por la Sala de Propiedad Intelectual de INDECOPI, según el cual una marca notoriamente conocida no puede ser cancelada por falta de uso, reforzando así la protección especial otorgada a esta categoría de signos y extendiendo dicha protección al registro en su totalidad.
